Another way is to simply right click the file and click Convert to DVR-MS. Simple!

So this took me several minutes to figure out. If you want to disable your second display, right click your desktop -> screen resolution -> multiple displays -> choose which monitor you want on.
For some reason, Microsoft removed the intuitive disable from rightclicking one of the displays.

Unfortunately you no longer can record TV shows in dvr-ms format (which is supported by many media converter applications). Windows 7’s Media Center now records in a new format WTV.
