Windows 7 Enable Digital CD Audio

Srinivas Raja has posted:

how do you set the cd-rom up for sound through the ide cable. In windows XP you would right click on the CD-rom in control panel/ Device Manager and then click \Enable Digital Audio\ and then that was it. How do i find the enable igital audio box in windows 7.

As far as I know, Windows 7 has removed the feature. If you are playing audio CDs, it should play fine through your typical media player programs like Windows Media Player, winamp, and etc…

Disabling secondary display in Windows 7

So this took me several minutes to figure out. If you want to disable your second display, right click your desktop -> screen resolution -> multiple displays -> choose which monitor you want on.

For some reason, Microsoft removed the intuitive disable from rightclicking one of the displays.

Windows 7 DVR-MS Media Center?

Unfortunately you no longer can record TV shows in dvr-ms format (which is supported by many media converter applications). Windows 7’s Media Center now records in a new format WTV. If you need to convert your TV Shows to another format, here’s a neat tool to help you do so: http://babgvant.com/files/folders/misc/entry12098.aspx

So to convert wtv to dvr-ms do the following:

To use this application: Run todvrmsgui.exe

Double click “in file” field and locate your .wtv tv show file.

Do the same with “Out DVR-MS” selecting a location and name for your destination file. Then click go.

Test Mode Windows 7 Build 7600

So if you followed Method 1 of how to disable signature driver checking, you may see “Test Mode Windows 7 Build 7600 on the bottom left corner of the screen”. If you want to re-enable driver checking and remove the test mode message, just do the reverse of Method 1 by going into command prompt again (run as administrator) and type the following:

bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions ENABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING OFF

Disable Digital Driver Signing Signature in Windows 7

For those early adopters of Windows 7, there’s a good chance that the drivers required to run on this OS will be in beta and have not been digitally signed yet. Even though you can install the drivers, the drivers will not be used unless you do one of the following.

Method 1: Goto your start menu, type cmd. Right click on command prompt and click on “Run as administrator”. In the command prompt, type in these commands:

bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON

Then reboot and your drivers should now be working. Pictures can befound here: http://www.killertechtips.com/2009/05/05/disable-driver-signing-windows-7/

Method 2: If the above does not work, here’s a temporary solution. Before Windows 7 boots, keep hitting your F8 key. From there, disable the driver signing checks. You will need to do this each time you boot Windows 7.

If you are having trouble getting into the boot menu, you may need to go into your bios and enable USB legacy support.
